Imagicademy takes imagination and fun to a whole new level with their amazing interactive toys and books! Children can explore their curiosities and play with their favorite Disney characters, and parents can get in on the fun too by helping their kids with the app designed to go with the games. They have recently added Disney Incredebooks to their lineup, where the characters become 3D and interactive through the power of augmented reality technology.

I, Sarina, received two Disney Incredebooks to review. These early reader books are hardbacks, with pages made of durable, heavy duty paper. Each came with directions on how to download the free app for the stories, and how to use them with the books in order to achieve the 3D effect of the characters seemingly popping off the pages. The app is available for Apple and Android devices. Once you have the app, you and your child can read the story, and keep a lookout for the special icon on the bottom of the page, indicating that it is an interactive page. Hold your device over the page, and watch your child’s favorite characters come to life! They can zoom in and out of the image, and spin the characters 360 degrees.

The stories I received were called Olaf Wants a Birthday and Mickey and Donald’s Rhyme Time. Each story was full of the recognizable characters from Frozen and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, respectfully. Using the app and the book together was really easy. My daughter, Lili, who’s 6, was all about these books. She’s able to work my iPad as efficiently as me, so getting the hang of using the app with the book was a cinch for her. The books were a little easy for her to read (she’s reading on a second grade level) but she was really excited to be able to read them to her little cousin, who is 4. As she read, he held the iPad and together they had a really great time. It was easy to see and manipulate the images on the iPad, as the screen is nice and big; I’m not sure if it would’ve been easier for my nephew to use my phone, as the iPad tends to get heavy after a while. My phone was not compatible with the app, which was a little disappointing.

Incredebooks are a special new way to learn and play at the same time. Your kids are sure to love both the playful stories and the beautiful illustrations that accompany them. You can find both books on
