This recipe is a crowd pleaser for any occasion! I, (Jeni) have been making this Homemade Chex Mix for years, and it’s ALWAYS a hit. I’ve given out the recipe more times than I could count, after friends and family tried it. It’s simple, flavorful and easy to manipulate to suite your own tastebuds! Note that the measurements below are based off of years of experimenting and getting this recipe to be exactly as I think it should. You may alter the recipe to fit your taste a little more.
3 cups each: Corn Chex Cereal, Rice Chex Cereal, and Wheat Chex Cereal
1 cup mixed nuts
1/4 cup party peanuts (lightly salted)
8 tablespoons (1 stick) butter or margarine
6 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
1 1/2 tablespoons seasoned salt
1 tablespoon garlic powder
3/4 tablespoon onion powder
Heat oven to 250 F. Melt butter in oven or microwave. Add Worcestershire Sauce and all seasonings to butter. Mix well. In a separate bowl, combine nuts and cereal. Coat well with butter/Worcestershire/seasoning mixture, by pouring it over the cereal. Lay out in single layers on cookie sheets. Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15-30 minutes. Once done, spread the hot mix out on paper towels to dry. Store in airtight container. ENJOY!
Here’s an idea! Amp it up with some spice by replacing a couple of tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce with your favorite hot sauce, and replace seasoned salt with chili powder!
