This is a great soup to make on a cold night for a family who is hungry! This Potato and Kielbasa Soup will fill their bellies and make everyone sleep well. You can enjoy this while watching a movie or a sit down dinner with friends and family. People will assume you have been slaving in the kitchen for day once they try this! Enjoy!
4lbs of red potatoes
2 pks of kielbasa rope sausage
3 c milk
2 c cheddar cheese ( shredded)
1 onion (sweet), diced
1 bag of frozen, chopped broccoli
1 small pk of hickory smoked hog jowl (or bacon)
pepper (to taste)
Mrs. Dash (to taste)
oregano to (taste)
4-5 tbsp flour ( to thicken)
1 lrg box of Swanson’s Chicken Stock
In a 12 quart pot: Wash and cut the red potatoes. Dice them in about 1″ chunks, them put them into boiling water. While they are cooking, add a bit of salt.
On a chopping board, cut up your hog jowl or bacon and put it into a frying skillet. Cook the meat through, but don’t let it crisp. Drain and set aside.
Once potatoes are done (easily stuck with a knife or fork), drain them, and put them back into the pot. Add a whole box of chicken stock. Add hot jowl or bacon. Add diced onion. Place back on heat at MEDIUM-LOW.
Cut up kielbasa sausage into chunks or slices, and add to pot. Add seasonings and mix.
Turn heat down to LOW.
Add milk and cheese. Stir well (otherwise, it will stick to the bottom of your pot).
In a small bowl, add flour and water to make a paste. Add to soup mixture. If mixture isn’t as thick as you would like, add more flour and water, in half of the recipe’s increments.
Leave on LOW, stirring occasionally but consistently, and adding more seasoning to taste for 20-25 minutes.
Serve warm, add more cheese, chives and bacon to the top and enjoy!

This soup looks perfect for a cold night! I would love to make it for my family!
This sounds like great comfort food and perfect for the cold, dreary weather we are currently having.
Nice flavorful idea.. I haven’t had sausages in so long.
Look like a very satisfying soup that everyone in the family will like. Myself,I would spice it up but leave it nonspicy for the kids.
Today, no (95 degrees). Fall and winter, any time.
This look really really good and I can’t wait to try it!
