Temperatures here in Texas are well over 100 degrees every day. In fact, as of today, we’ve hit over 20 days of 100+ temps. And in Texas, that means heat index around 110. It’s not just North Texas – the entire country is burning up! It’s WAY too hot to hang out outside, ya’ll. And you know what that means… and ’80s movie marathon day!
You all know my love for the ’80s is strong. With Stranger Things and Top Gun strumming nostalgia into everyone right now, it’s the perfect time for an indoor party. Let’s crank up the A/C, grab some of my favorite ’80s flicks, and create some fun & summery treats to munch on while we stay cool!
First – the movies! Here are 10 of my absolute favorite ’80s movies:
- Say Anything
- Footloose
- The Goonies
- The Breakfast Club
- Sixteen Candles
- E.T.
- The Dark Crystal
- The Neverending Story
- The Lost Boys
- Labyrinth
I know it’s an impossible choice, but a movie marathon will probably only accommodate 3 of those movies…. and here’s another impossible choice for you – the snack! I was recently introduced to noosa frozen yoghurt gelato and I can’t even begin to explain the texture – it’s absolutely heavenly. It’s like eating cold velvet that tastes like unicorns dancing on a rainbow. You may just have to try it for yourself to truly understand! 🙂 Their slogan is “Full on Tasty” and I think that suits these perfectly!
There are four flavors: noosa frozen yoghurt gelato strawberries & cream, noosa frozen yoghurt gelato chocolate fudge, noosa frozen yoghurt gelato sea salt caramel, and noosa frozen yoghurt gelato honey vanilla bean. There are no artificial flavors and they are all made with whole milk yoghurt. Even better than the crazy smooth texture & amazing flavors – they contain probiotics with live & active cultures!
Let’s make some ’80s movie marathon snacks!
First up is fro yo gelato sandwiches with noosa frozen yoghurt gelato strawberries & cream. These are too easy. You can either buy or bake some refrigerated sugar cookie dough. Sandwich the noosa in between two for a decadently sweet & tart gelato sandwich!
Another fun idea is to make a s’mores trifle! In a bowl, layer noosa frozen yoghurt gelato chocolate fudge, then graham cracker crumbles, and mini marshmallows OR my favorite – white chocolate chips. Simple, fast, delicious s’mores in a bowl! If you love chocolate… this is for you!
The third treat I whipped up was frozen yoghurt gelato tacos. Ohhhh yeah! Fry up your flour tortillas until golden brown, shaping them into tacos as they fry. Immediately coat in cinnamon and sugar. I froze mine for about 10 minutes after they got to room temperature. Fill with noosa frozen yoghurt gelato sea salt caramel. Now you can top your taco with syrups or sauces, fruits, nuts, whipped cream or whatever else you want!
We have our movie, we have our snacks, and now you may be saying to yourself, “Hey! I don’t have the cool hat and shirt Jeni has in her super excited picture!” You sure don’t… but you CAN! The awesome folks at noosa want to make sure you stay un-boring with this awesome giveaway package!
