It’s a brand New Year, which means the past is in the past and it is time to put a foot forward and achieve our goals for the New Year. This year, many couples goals will be to add to their family and welcome a new bundle of joy into their hearts and home. While some couples easily become pregnant, others are having trouble and need a little direction of what to do and how to optimize their best chances of conceiving.
Just a few short years ago, we were having trouble conceiving, and I thought everything would be over. I was sure that I would not be able to add another sweet addition to our family and my oldest would always be alone and a lonely child. After several attempts and optimizing my chances to conceive, we ended up with a Big Fat Positive and 8 months later we welcomed a beautiful baby girl to our family. Here are a few tips, if you are trying to conceive, to possibly improve your chances for a BFP pregnancy test:
- According to a few studies, there are several foods that you can consume (and some to not consume) that can help improve your ovulatory function. Consuming a balanced diet of proteins, low glycemic carbs and healthy fats improve your quality of nutritional intake which can help improve your fertility. It is important for men to eat healthy too so they are fertile as well. When trying to conceive, stay away from acidic foods, those may make your cervical mucus not take to the sperm.
- Taking a multivitamin helps make sure you are healthy and your body (and womb) is getting the nutrients it needs to have the most fertile environment. Make sure your multivitamin contains Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Vitamin C, B6, B12, Folic Acid, Iron, Selenium, and Zinc.
- No matter if this is your first child or your third, it is always good to have a preconception visit with your OBGYN. Health issues can flare up after having a child, or if this is your first child underlying health issues can prevent you from being fertile. Three months before you plan on trying to conceive, schedule an appointment so that you may have time for any treatments that may be needed.
- Try out the newest product, The Stork OTC. This product is a uniquely designed medical device that can be used in the comfort of your own home. This product is used during ovulation to up your chances of becoming pregnant. This product uses a pretty neat technique- cervical cap insemination. This product always the sperm to bypass the vaginal tract and gets the sperm as close as possible to the opening of the cervix. From there, the sperm can swim to the egg and fertilize it. The Stork OTC contains two parts- the Conceptacle and the applicator. The Conceptacle is a latex-free sheath was a cervical cap at the sheath. Simply collect the semen and place into the cervical cap. Using the applicator place it at your cervic and it remains in place for 4 to 6 hours and then can be easily removed. What makes The Stork OTC so great is that the success rate of cervical cap insemination, the technique of the Stork OTC, becoming pregnant is up to 20% and prevents backflow of the semen, which is a big problem for most couples.
The Stork OTC does not require a prescription and can be picked up at CVS or Walgreen’s in the family planning section next to the ovulation test kits. If you are looking to conceive and add a new family member for 2017, following simple tips and using an at home device will certainly up your chances.
