On our minds this morning

I (Michelle) am so happy to be back to somewhat normal after a long weekend and spending half the day at the doctor yesterday. As far as I know everything looks good with the doctor, still have to wait a few days for the blood work to come back.  The weather this week is cooler plus sunny. Who couldn’t wish for a better week?? This coming weekend we are going to be carving pumpkins and I just can’t wait to do that. I really don’t have to much to update on, since my entire day was spent at the doctor but I am very happy to be sitting back enjoying a nice warm cup of Pumpkin Spice Latte.

How was your day yesterday?

Prince Francis the Ferret

Well, Kyle and I have a new member of our family now!  Kyle decided he wanted a ferret – and he brought home this little dude!  He’s so adorable, but he does sleep about 14 hours a day.  He’s less than a year old, and VERY curious, too!  Kyle and I named him Prince Francis, which is very fitting for him.  He’s a very cool little guy, who loves plastic bags, exploring, and hairbands.  Not hair bands, like 80’s big hair bands, but hairbands that you make ponytails with.  Just thought I should clarify.  I’m not sure he’s ever seen a hair band before!  Anyways, here’s a cute video of Prince Francis to enjoy:

Crock Pot Nachos Recipe

These Crock Pot Nachos are so easy to make!  I (Jeni) have my ingredients in the crock pot right now, and I can’t wait until dinner time!  I added some spice to it, so I’m hoping it doesn’t burn my tongue or throat – but the guys love that, so it’s worth the suffering to make them smile.  🙂

Haunted House Reactions

Haunted Houses scare the daylights out of Kyle and I (Jeni).  We can barely watch a trailer for a scary movie without getting freaked out.  Yes, I know.  We’re quite a pair of besties!  These reactions are HILARIOUS, and taken from a haunted house in Niagra Falls.  Head over HERE to scroll through the hysterical reactions that people have, as the camera snaps them getting scared!  We promise you’ll laugh!

Do you like haunted houses?  Have you ever been through one that scared you?  Tell us!

Absolutely, Carson! We’re excited to see Prince Francis grow up….so fun! And those reactions make us laugh EVERY time we watch! Nearly spit coffee across the room!

  4. Happy Tuesday! Pumpkin carving is such a lot of fun. I’m one of those intricate details, stencil people when it comes to pumpkin carving, but I hate seeing time take a toll on my designs. I tend to carve only a few days before Halloween, or you end up with pumpkins with a serious mold problem (at least in Southern California’s climate. Through trial and error through the years, buying Pumpkin Fresh spray, buying other types of sprays, and trying everything you can imagine to seal a pumpkin so it doesn’t go bad, I found two things that really work well to preserve a pumpkin…acrylic sealing spray (the kind that seals acrylic paints that you can buy in a craft store or big box store with a craft department) and good old fashioned hairspray. Both prolong the life of the carved pumpkin and when you spray them every 4-5 days, you keep the mold at bay, and avoid shrinkage and drying out. Typing the word shrinkage reminds me of that Seinfeld episode, that’s so NOT where I intended that sentence to go, lol.

My day yesterday was a bit chaotic. We use two Twin XL mattresses on bed frames for our couches in the living room, and yesterday my bed frame decided to collapse in on itself bending and destroying the mattress. We ordered both a replacement mattress and bed frame, but they are not due to arrive until Friday for the bed frame and Monday for the mattress. That means I have a long week of “making it work” ahead of me. My boyfriend, always the thinking one, decided to use hardcover books and six car jacks to prop up the broken bed frame in the meantime. The result is a shifting bed that reminds me of the game Topple, somewhat hilarious. Monday cannot come soon enough. I am hoping we can weed out what’s underneath the frame when we replace the frame and mattress, as we have to move the beginning of November. We’ve decided (read: my boyfriend has decided) that we aren’t packing and we are just going to carry things over during the move for 10 days (the time he has off work) since we are only moving next door. I don’t think it will work, and we argued about that yesterday, SIGH!

I’m not a haunted house fan, but I do enjoy Horror Movies, go figure, right? I went to one haunted house when I was in my teen years, and didn’t like it then.I think haunted houses are a little too real for me. There are some really good haunted houses in California, including one in Tustin that scares the heck out of people and makes them sign a waiver before entering. Not my kind of place, but I love seeing everyone else get so scared. Even though I don’t like haunted houses, I still love celebrating Halloween. We dawned our costumes over the weekend at Spooktacular at Sea World. We even saw the new Sesame Street musical Halloween show. I love the song with the line “A little bit scary but not too much” because it describes my idea of Halloween perfectly. I also love visiting pumpkin patches, though these days I prefer to paint pumpkins rather than carve them. The large slides at pumpkin patches are a lot of fun as well, and I love hay and corn mazes.

Hope everyone has a great day!

You are BRILLIANT! Thank you so much for sharing your hair spray tip for keeping pumpkins fresh! That’s AWESOME!!!

Well, that’s a smart boyfriend you have there – very creative way to fix your “couch”! I hope Monday comes REALLY fast for you – although I don’t know anyone else looking forward to zooming through the weekend!! LOL

You’re too funny – loving horror movies but not haunted houses! HAHAHA! Sea World sounds really cool, and the pumpkin patches, corn mazes and hay rides are so much fun! I can’t wait to go do that!

Have a WONDERFUL day, Sarah! Thanks again for joining us!

  5. Oh I almost forgot, Prince Francis is adorable! Ferrets are such a lot of fun. They love home made toys that allow them to hide. One of their favorites is running through PVC pipe, you can build a whole intricate system for a few dollars spent at Home Depot and the ferret will spend hours exploring. They also really love old shoes and boots to hide away in.
