Now….refill that coffee and let’s get to chatting with Morning Coffee!
Last week, we had some CRAZY storms in Texas. I (Jeni) LOVE me a good thunder storm, but these were downright NASTY! Luckily, everything was fine and we averted tornadoes and power outages. We DID get some insane hail and some really crazy lightning. The image above is from last Tuesday….and it wasn’t much better that Thursday, either. The lightning actually got way worse- over 2,000 strikes in such a tiny amount of time. It was pretty neat to watch, if you could handle the hail and rain hitting your face with the 70 mile per hour winds! 😉 So this morning, I started thinking about how weird the weather here is. It’s a beautiful 60 degrees, and we’re expecting it to be in the 80’s later today. These storms come through with such force and craziness, and we sit around the TV, watching the radar move closer and closer, so we can prepare. Then, 30 minutes later, the storm is gone, and everything is back to normal. It reminds me of Thanksgiving dinner. You prepare ALL day for this huge event, and within minutes, it’s all gone.
What’s the weather doing in your neck of the woods?
School.. ugh. I, Clo, am heading back to school everyone. And to be honest I’m completely scared yet excited. I’m excited because this is huge and is something I’ve been truly wanting. However, I am scared because it’s been almost 6 years since I last went to school. And I hated it. The kids were so mean and just awful. I’m also scared that I won’t do well and will beat my self up over it. I guess I just have to see how things go.. Class starts in two weeks, and I get married in 3. Wish me luck! I’m gonna need it.
What’s your thoughts on school? Ever want to go back?

It’s the BEST candy and chocolate EVER! See my review HERE.
I, Clo, am all about motivational quotes. That’s why when I come across one that I can relate too, I love to share it. This right here is awesome and so true. My bit of wisdom for the day.
Our amazing friend, Olivia at This N That With Olivia, created this DE-LI-SHUS looking Crock Pot Chicken Teriyaki meal! I (Jeni) will be leaving Morning Coffee later to get this recipe going…and I can’t WAIT to start smelling it! Check out the full recipe HERE!
Ok. So this dude (the guy with the cane) is Paul Gatling. He’s 81 years old. He was just cleared of murder charges. Good for him, right? Except…he served over 50 YEARS in prison for a crime he didn’t commit! Ouch. Man….he had his t life ahead of him, and he spent it in prison. There’s really nothing that can be done at this point to make up for that time. FIFTY YEARS. I know a lot of people will be mad about it, and I get it. But our criminal justice system is set up the best it can be, to benefit the most. That might not be very comforting, but that’s how it is. This poor guy….I hope he is able to adjust and move on with his life very quickly from this!
Read the rest of the story HERE!
- 81-year-old Paul Gatling was cleared of murder charges on Monday, more than 50 years after being sentenced
- His was the 20th exoneration won by Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson since 2014
- Exonerations are on the rise nationally with Thompson’s Conviction Review Unit heralded as a model
CLO’S THOUGHTS ON THIS ARTICLE: I know and understand that the justice system works hard to make sure the right people are sentenced but when it comes to things like this it does make me mad. If this was my father or husband I’d be beyond upset. His age, and the amount of time served makes his pretty young and studies show that most of those that are released from prison after many years don’t end up okay.
