Now….refill that coffee and let’s get to chatting with Morning Coffee this morning!
WOOHOO!!! So, a few days ago, a HUGE trove of fossils was found in Antarctica (read the complete story HERE). This included tons of marine reptiles and Mosasaurus bones. These were creatures that lived 61-71 years ago, and it’s a huge discovery. I (Jeni), am an amateur Paleontologist and avid fossil hunter (read more about that HERE), so this is VERY exciting for me! Not only were the Paleontologists able to do a lot of geologic mapping up there (hard to do when there is ice everywhere), they walked away with some amazing specimens that are being tested now. It’ll be a few years before results come back from all of them, and I’ll be waiting for those results!
FYI – the Mosasaurus was a marine dinosaur that was featured in Jurassic World. These bad boys were swimming in the oceans at the end of the Cretaceous period (when dinosaurs started dying off). I was lucky enough to go on an expedition in Canada, on the Athabasca River a few years ago with my now ex-husband. He found a huge pile of rock, and knowing what to look for, we knew bone had to be inside. I spent 9 1/2 hours prepping out the bone from the mud and rock (it’s a very pain-staking process), to expose a phalange from a Mosasaur!! It’s one of my favorite fossils that I have found and own now.
What special things do you treasure? Do you have any unique hobbies?
Ahh.. Well this is kinda scary. I, Clo, am getting married in 16 days! Yes, 16 DAYS! There is still so much to do and the days are just counting down. Well.. that’s kinda what days do. I’m super excited, we both are, it’s just a little bit scary knowing there is so much to do, plus I want it to be perfect. And I know once the day is here it will be, but still.. Ahh (screams silently). Winston and I are so excited and what our new lifes together is gonna bring. Traveling, buying a home, kids, building a family. The joy. The headaches. We are prepared that our life together as husband and wife isn’t gonna be perfect, but we are going to do everything in our power to make sure that we remain happy and loyal to eachother. We are prepared for fights, disagreements, times where we just need space, but we’re also prepared for those intimate moments, purchasing our first house, feeling the first kick from our baby, building the nursery, celebrating our 20 years, 50 years together. Marriage is a commitment and I’m ready to take this on head first. Let’s just let these 16 days go by a little slower, so we can get everything done!! Check out our countdown HERE. You can also make your own too!

I, Clo, am a HUGE Instagram fan. I think I always have been. I love the filters, the people, everything. So when I saw this article on USA Today and also saw this on the CNN TV news I knew it had to be the “in the news” item for Morning Coffee to share with all of you. Instagram’s app and logo got a makeover on Wednesday, and the photo-sharing app’s users are taking it a step further. With #myinstagramlogo, Insta-artists are showcasing their take on how the logo should look. Some are pretty impressive. I’m probably gonna come up with something cheesy and post it using the hashtag. Anyway, see the full article HERE.
Jeni’s thoughts? I need to be more active on Instagram, for sure. But with SO many social media sites out there, I have to admit, that Instagram is one of the least exciting for me. I do like this little competition for the logo, though! That sounds like a lot of fun, and I’m excited to see what people come up with!
HUSBAND SHAMING! This is hysterical!

The dinosaur bone find was amazing. My youngest loves dinosaurs so we are following that story as well, it makes a great homeschool lesson! We will be waiting for those test results for years together!
Good luck to you on getting married and do not stress so much over planning for everything because you will learn that things do not always go as planned – live is an adventure and sometimes you just have to sit back and enjoy the ups and downs. I was not into the whole wedding thing so ours was just a quiet ceremony with the two of us and one witness. Good luck to both of you!
I love that picture with the canoe. My husband is a photographer and he is been very uninspired lately I’m going to show him that picture and see if that helps inspire him to do something different.
I love it too! Show him the album, hope it helps. I’m a photographer too, so I understand. Best of luck <3
