Now….refill that coffee and let’s get to chatting with Morning Coffee!
So, yesterday on Morning Coffee, I (Jeni) put roller skates in A Few of Our Favorite Things. Since then, I’ve been thinking about roller skating, and even dreamed about it last night! When I was growing up on the central coast of California, we had a skating rink called Flippo’s Skate Side Harbor. It was the COOLEST place to hang out, and SO much fun! It’s a classic skating rink from the 80’s – big, wooden rink, snack counter and eating area, arcade games, a “birthday room” for parties, a DJ booth with a guy WAY too cool to be a roller rink music man in it, a dorky high schooler handing out roller skates, and a huge disco ball in the center of the rink.
Ahhhh, those memories are amazing! One of my favorite things about Flippo’s, was they had a HUGE roller skate that the “birthday girl/guy” got to sit in, and be pushed around the rink to their favorite song. We would all just gather on the outside of the rink and watch. My favorite time was when the lights would go out, and “Thriller” would come through the speakers. I remember tripping over myself to get out there and get groovy on my skates, while the disco ball spun around, making awesome prisms on the floor. It sounds stupid as I’m typing it (like, REALLY cheesy), but it really was so much fun! Man, I sure wish we had roller rinks again….
mUnfortunately, after an exhaustive search for images of Flippo’s, I came out just about empty 🙁 It closed down in 2000, and I was sure I could find some pictures, but the 2 photos above are of inside the skating rink! These came from a Facebook Group from my hometown. Note the awesome carpet…..
What are your favorite memories about roller skating rinks?
I, Clo, LOVE my peppermint oil that I got from Radha Beauty. I found this baby at our natural food store and I am in love. I use it daily and it helps keep my nerves calm and gets me through the day. I know it’s crazy but one drop of this can truly help.
Do you know what makes peppermint oil so popular and why it’s important to use in your daily routine?
- Relieves anxiety
- Reduces muscle pain
- Calms gastrointestinal issues
- Minty and refreshing aroma
*When using essential oils be sure to only use natural oils, as many companies include un-natural chemicals that are harmful to our health.
Adding a small drop a day to your inner wrist can help make you feel happier and more relaxed. Try adding a drop to your water or smoothie, one drop is plenty and is great for detoxing the body.
What’s your favorite essential oil?

Each box offers different treats, and educational material – but they are so much fun, and so cute, the kids would never know they are learning! Would your kids dig these boxes??
In life.. no matter what you want to fix. Say your job stinks, say you’re having weight issues, or relationship problems, whatever it may be, always be sure you work on fixing yourself first. That’s why this song “Man in the Mirror” by Michael Jackson is so powerful. – Clo
I (Jeni) own this Party in The Tub, and it’s seriously so much fun! Bubble bath + Party The Tub = AWESOME bath time!
What makes a great bath for you?
I, Clo, found this smiley face on the inside of my @kauaijuiceco kombucha bottle. I’m not sure how it got there but whoever did it is amazing and totally made my day!
This is about the most ridiculous thing I (Jeni) have seen in a long time….but it’s TOO COOL! It’s funny and silly, but I do love me some Ronnie! Check out this Ronald Reagan tank!
What president would you like to see on a tank top!?
Seriously. This looks amazing, right? That’s because it IS! This Corn Tortilla Chicken Enchilada recipe will definitely feed the family, and leave them satisfied and full. It is packed with flavor, and has a lot of room to add your own spices and ingredients, too! Check it out!
Check this out. So, in 1998, this police officer is called to a fire. A 5-year old little girl was found, unresponsive, in the building. She was handed to this dude in the picture above, and since the ambulance was 10 minutes away, he performed CPR on her in the back of the patrol car.
He saved her life. She connected with him via Facebook, and now she’s 23 years old, and just graduated college. She asked the officer to be there for her proud moment, and he was super supportive of her.
This is such a touching story! The officer said he did what he was trained to do….and in doing that, he saved her life. It’s so cool that she always remembered him, and reached out (and FOUND him) on Facebook, too. I (Jeni) love this story!
See the article HERE.
Clo’s thoughts on this article: I love touching stories like these. I love how she always held close of what he did. I’m sure he parents were always grateful and made sure she kept close of what he did. There are a lot of times that I don’t like social media, how it exposes too much sometimes, but there are things like this.. like connecting that truly make Facebook and social media so amazing.
This video CRACKS ME UP! I, (Jeni) think it’s hilarious when people showboat, and lie to make themselves look better. It’s sad…but totally funny, too. That’s what this video is about – Fashion Week….but the topics of conversation are completely made up!
