Honey Nut Salty Squares

You may not know, but I run a snack & junk food Instagram account with my best friend, Jason. Together, we receive new products from tons of companies to share with our followers (you can check it out here, if you’re curious!). One of those products was the new Honey Vanilla Cheerios Cereal… and since I’m not a big cereal eater, I decided to use them in a recipe. And ohhhhhhhh man… these are the absolute PERFECT sweet treat! Plus, you can use regular or Honey Nut Cheerios if you don’t have Vanilla Honey Cheerios – so everyone wins!

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • 10 oz mini marshmallows
  • 4 Tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 4 cups Cheerios (I used the new Honey Vanilla, but you could use Honey Nut Cheerios if you can’t find it!)
  • 1 cup honey roasted peanuts
  • 1 cup crushed pretzels

MAKE THEM:

In a large bowl, combine the cereal, peanut, and pretzels and mix with your hands. Set aside.

In a medium saucepan over medium/low heat, melt marshmallows and butter until smooth.

Add peanut butter and melt until combined completely.

Pour over cereal mixture and coat everything evenly. You may need to use your hands
Work quickly – as the marshmallow mixture cools, it becomes harder to coat the cereal

Line a 9×9″ pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil then spray with cooking spray. You can alternatively use a 13×9″ pan for smaller squares.

Pour the mixture into the pan and press down evenly with your hands.

Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.

Jeni’s Disclaimer: I’m just a regular girl.  I love to drink wine while I bake.  I’m by no means a professional baker or pro photographer. My creations aren’t staged, they just are what they are, and that’s probably obvious from the pictures.  I create my recipes from inspiration of scents and flavors around me. I also repurpose my grandma’s old recipes. If you love to bake and your food ends up looking like REAL food, and not like something you’ll see on Instagram, you’re in the right place.
