Fried cheeseburgers with Chili Onion Rings. This meal definitely isn’t for the faint of heart or anyone on a regular diet. It IS, however, for those that want to try something different with 2 classic comfort foods! We tried and failed a few times with this recipe, but created the perfect meal, finally, and now we get to share it with you!
Fried Cheeseburgers
This recipe will make about 10 small cheeseburgers
1 lb ground beef
2 tubes Pillsbury Grands! Biscuits (generic brand didn’t work as well)
6 strips bacon – cooked & crumbled
sliced cheddar cheese (about 6 oz)
2 tablespoons Worchestershire sauce
1/2 small onion – diced
Oil for frying
optional – BBQ sauce
Brown meat in skillet over medium heat. Add onions and continue to cook until onions are clear. Take off heat. Add Worchestershire sauce, and mix throughout. Cook and crumble bacon. In another skillet, heat oil on medium high and let heat. Lightly flour your prep surface, and open tube of rolls. Take out 1 roll. flatten into an oblong shape, and cut in the middle. Place slices of cheese on one side of the dough. Over the cheese, add about 2 tablespoons of beef mixture. Top with crumbled bacon. Cover the beef mixture/bacon/cheese side with the other half of the dough. Press and use a fork to secure the sides, forming a tight pocket. Place in oil and fry for 1-2 minutes on each side. Be sure they have a dark golden brown color, otherwise, the inside of the cheeseburger pocket might be doughy! Serve with condiments like ranch dressing, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, bbq sauce and other items you would dip your cheeseburger in.
Chili Onion Rings
1 Large yellow onion
2 cups Panko bread crumbs
1 chili seasoning packet (found in the grocery store aisle with gravy, taco seasoning and other packets)
2 medium or large eggs
1/2 cup milk
Oil for frying
Slice onion into rings. Thickness depends on your preference. In a medium sized bowl, combine Panko crumbs and chili packet. In another medium size bowl, whisk together eggs and milk. Pat and dry off onion rings, then dip in egg/milk mixture, then dip into Panko mixture and coat well. After dipping all rings in both mixtures, refrigerate for at least 20 minutes. Heat oil in frying pan on medium high. Place each ring in to fry- turning every 30 seconds or so, until golden brown. Lay on paper towel to drain. Kick up the heat on these yummy onion rings by dipping them in hot sauce, or adding chili powder to the Panko mixture.
