I (Sarah) am a huge Jem and the Holograms fan! I wanted to totally run away from home and join the Holograms. One Christmas as a child I asked Santa Claus for a hot pink wig and a keyboard. I got the keyboard which proved that I have zero musical talent, but I also got this wig…which definitely was truly outrageous. But hey, I look like I could be part of the band!

I recently saw the Jem and the Holograms movie. It came out in 2015, and I guess it must have stayed under the radar because I heard zero advertising for it. Then I received the DVD for an early birthday gift, and I thought it was pretty good overall. It wasn’t quite as fun as the cartoon I grew up with, but it was such a fun piece of nostalgia for me that I felt like a kid again. The reviews for the movie are surprisingly bad, but for me it was a trip down memory lane and I’m glad I saw it.

 Watch the movie trailer HERE

Were you a Jem and the Holograms fan? Did you see the movie?

I (Jeni) have to admit – I LOVE McDonald’s. I don’t eat it often (losing weight + eating McDonald’s whenever I want it doesn’t equate to success!), but I sure do love it. I ran across these two, awesome articles about McDonald’s in the 80s and 90s….and why it was SO much better back then!  It was so much fun to browse the images and have nostalgic flashbacks. Dang it, now I want some fries and chicken McNuggets. Check out the articles HERE and HERE and have fun browsing!

I also just picked up this awesome McDonald’s Happy Meal Toy reference book! It starts when the first Happy Meals came out in the 70s, and goes through 1995. So fun to see all of the great toys they’ve offered!

If you’re a McDonald’s fan – what was your favorite memory from back in the day?

EEEEK!  BOOTS!  So cute!  Can’t make a complete sentence!  hahaha!  These adorable Muk Luk boots are just $19.99 + free shipping, and come in 3 colors!

New snack foods are what we do on Snack Gator… and these are definitely one of our favorites we’ve ever featured! It’s edible cookie dough from Nestle Toll House, and holy moly, you guys – they are so good!  One is actually cookie dough and the other is brownie dough! Read more HERE!

What’s your favorite new snack you’ve recently tried?

I (Jeni) came across these beautiful glass art things, and thought they were so cool….then realized what they actually are: ashes!  What an incredible way to keep and treasure your loved ones ashes!  Gone are the days of an urn on the mantel…now you can have their ashes turned into something really pretty.  See more about these HERE.

What do you think?  Cool or creepy?

Housekeeping Olympics.  Sounds fun, right?  HAHA!  Well, it’s fun for the professional housekeepers in Las Vegas!  In fact, for the last 30 years, once a year, teams from hotels like MGM, Mirage and others compete!  They have a vacuum race, bed-making speed contest, toilet brush toss and more! Read more HERE.

Are you a fan of the Olympics (any Olympics!)?

This candle has my (Sarah) name all over it!  WE are huge football fans in my house.  This Friday Night Football candle is scented with notes of grass, lemon, and leather… and those sound pretty awesome together, actually!  Plus, it’s soy, so it’ll burn through a few games!  WOOHOO!

What’s your favorite candle scent?

I (Jeni) am a bath girl.  I love baths!  These little Glowing Jellyfish are a fun accessory for me… or anyone that has kids!  Everyone can enjoy these light up, cute little guys, right?  They come in three colors, and offer a fun new way to relax (or play!) in the bath!

How do you relax?

These Zucchini Roll Ups are a great alternative to a heavy meat meal!  Plus, they are nutritious and only take about 30 minutes to prep and bake.  Make smaller portions and put a toothpick in them for a great appetizer, too!

What’s your favorite non-meat meal?

  5. That edible cookie dough, YES, please. Yum.
I remember that Jem movie coming up but I don’t think it did well which is probably why you didn’t see/hear much about it then.

My son works in the hotel industry and I know he would be thrilled to watch the Housekeeping Olympics. I can not imagine how quick these people can change beddings!

The edible cookie dough is what I will get today! Hopefully they have it in the store near me. If not, I will have to check online. I just got to have that in my belly!

  16. I think those housekeeping games are just hilarious!
Also, I need to order a new pair of house shoes. Thank you for the reminder.

  17. I’d be in trouble with the Edible Brownie Dough. I would not be able to put it down. (so it’s never coming in my house)

  18. I have been dying to try the tollhouse dough but I am afraid I would consume the entire thing.

Love those glowing jellyfish! I try to eat much healthier than I did in my youth but gosh I still love McDonald’s food even though I only indulge in that guilty pleasure once or twice a year now.
