It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time to brush off the stress, negativity and blah of your week.  Enjoy some mid-week mixers with us without leaving the comfort of your home.  Uncork your favorite wine, pop open a beer, mix your favorite cocktail…. and unwind with us this evening.  And, if you’re feeling extra perky in the mornings, or need some help getting a jump on your day, join us for Morning Coffee weekday mornings, too!

Yummy treats and random chit-chat starts our Happy Hour together!

Bacon Big Boys

Ok, this is NOT for the faint of heart – or those with bad hearts…..or those that care about their hearts at all.  Let’s be honest.  It’s bad for you, but it’s sooooo good.  And if being bad is wrong, I (Jeni) don’t wanna be right.

The Bacon Big Boy.  This is a recipe from a Better Homes & Gardens Cookbook from 1968.  Yah, they knew how to rock bacon back then!  They are super easy to make, and I like dipping them in mustard. These make great appetizers when you cut them up, too!

Here’s how to make them:

Grab hoagie rolls. Stuff sausage or kielbasa in them. Squirt mustard on the sausage. Layer cheese on top of that.  Put the top on the hoagie roll. Wrap pieces of uncooked bacon around them, securing with toothpicks.  Let that bacon give the rolls a big hug.  Stick in oven at 350 degrees until the bacon is cooked through to your liking.  Take out the toothpicks (those hurt when you bite them) and enjoy!  Easy, right!?

What’s your favorite “this is SO bad for me” food?

Baby Yoda is definitely cute, right?  So why not turn it into a cocktail?  Apparently, it’s a new trend that’s hitting bars nationwide.  And hey – they are pretty cute, but do they taste good?

What’s your favorite cocktail?

Dog-Opoly.  Need we say more?  How about Cat-Opoly for the cat lovers? 🙂  It’s the dog-lover and cat-lover version of the classic game, with some really fun moving pieces for each!

Are you a cat person or a dog person?

Jalapeño ice cream?  It’s a real thing and apparently, it’s pretty popular! This cool post on food.com shows you how to make it, four different ways at home! You can have it the original way, custard style, fried ice cream burritos (whaaaa???), and ice cream balls!

Do you ever make your own ice cream at home?

If you are lucky enough to live near a CVS, you know what a great drugstore it is… and its iconic LONG receipts are always a treat 🙂 I mean, who doesn’t love getting a ton of coupons for stuff you might actually buy?  And free money for your purchases?  SCORE! Etsy shops are making scarves inspired by those receipts, and they are too fun!

Do you ever use coupons?

Garden gnomes aren’t boring anymore! BigMouth Inc. creates some hilarious gnomes for your garden and outdoor areas! I (Jeni) gifted the dinosaur one to my sister for Christmas, and she absolutely loves it!  I might just have to make that a tradition, so in a few years, she’ll have a garden FULL of gnomes!

Do you have any decorations in your garden?

Check out this cool little trend going on.  We all know Christmas trees are popular (obviously), but did you ever consider a Valentine’s Day tree?? Aren’t these beautiful and so much fun?  What’s next… Easter trees?  Back to School trees?  😉

Would you put up a Valentine’s Day tree?

Try a fun, new adult beverage this week, or save the recipes for parties with friends!

Drunken Peanut Butter Cups.  OH YAH!!!  I (Sarah) am SO game for this sweet little adult beverage.  It’s calling my name.  “Sarrrraahhhhh… SAAARRRRAHHHHH” 😉  You literally infuse your vodka with peanut butter cups for this cocktail… WOW!

So, Bud Light just released a new product – they jumped on the bandwagon of hard seltzers.  I (Jeni) wouldn’t mind trying some!  They have some yummy flavors: Black Cherry, Lemon Lime, Strawberry, and Mango.  Even better – the 12 oz. cans are 5% alcohol, only 100 calories, have less than a gram of sugars, and just 2 carbs!

What’s your favorite adult beverage right now?

What’s Happy Hour without getting all that negativity out of your system? Get it out and let it go!

Let people eat what they want!  That’s what I (Sarah) say.  We all have our quirks and specific tastes.  So why do people have to be so lame about it??

I saw this article about a kiwi-topped pizza in Sweden, and people are FREAKING OUT.  It’s one thing to be weirded out – it’s weird, for sure.  Would I eat it?  Naw… but I don’t care if others do! But people get MEAN. I never thought I’d see a kiwi pizza spark so much hatred and anger! GEEZ.

On a related note, I found a cool pizza recipe I want to try – it’s  a Blackberry Pizza, with real blackberries in it from Chelsea’s Messy Apron.

Glitter Poop.  Stupid trends just keep happening! I just don’t remember these things happening when I was a kid in the 80s and 90s… do you guys?  Did we do stupid crap like this?  I remember urban legends being huge, but not trends like these.  Maybe it’s because the internet was a brand new thing when I was  a kid. 🙂

Anyway… back to the glitter poop.  People are literally eating these glitter pills to make their poop sparkle.  Hey – you want your stuff to shine?  Go for it.  I won’t judge you… but I definitely don’t wanna see it, either! HAHAHAAH!!   Read more about these pills HERE.

What’s bugging you this week?  Go ahead – let out those bitches and moans in the comments!

Your drink should be kicking in by now, so let’s have some giggles together!

  12. My favorite adult beverage right now is Pabst Blue Ribbon Hard Coffee. I had some the other night and it was fantastic. Many years ago we had a Christmas tree that wasn’t dropping its needles, so we kept it. I redecorated it with paper hearts for Valentine’s Day and it was pretty cute.

  13. I wish I could sneak the glitter poop pills into my husband. I just want to see his reaction to the poop. He hates glitter.

  14. I love that scarf and it’s perfect for my daughter. She’s our family shopaholic. That second Christmas tree is gorgeous! I have to try to recreate it.

  18. I love the Valentine’s Day trees! The CVS scarves made me literally laugh out loud. My daughter just asked me last night what was the longest receipt I’ve gotten. I told her I wasn’t sure, but that it was most likely from CVS. 🙂

I couldn’t handle Jalapeño ice cream because I don’t like the heat but my grown children would love it! Also I have never thought about a Valentine tree but it looks like a cute idea.
