Now….refill that coffee and let’s get to chatting with our Morning Coffee!

I (Jeni) don’t like Tidying Up.  And I don’t like Marie Kondo.  *ducks to avoid flying objects*

I just can’t get into it, and don’t understand why it’s so popular, honestly. I was all excited to watch the series, to see what all of the fuss was about.  Everyone I know seems to be in love with this show and this girl, Marie.  I watched 3 episodes, and I was BORED. OMG you guys – I was honestly not having fun, but I gave it a good shot.  I didn’t just watch one episode and say, “nope.”  I watched three full episodes.  Marie Kondo was cute at first, but then she just started annoying me.  And the show really didn’t teach me anything.  Purge your stuff and give everything a home.  I’m disappointed and I feel like I’m the only person in the world that didn’t find joy in Marie Kondo!

Is there anyone else out there that didn’t like that show?

I (Sarah) never learned to cross stitch. I always wanted to learn, but no one was around to teach me. When my grandmother was around I was way too young to learn. I recently found this awesome app called Cross Stitch. It’s a free app that lets you “cross stitch” virtually. You choose a picture, and then get a giant grid and you click to fill it in with different colors. There is a color guide on the grid and I found it very therapeutic, sort of like coloring in a giant color by number. The colors fill in by stitching the colors straight onto the grid. For those who know how to cross stitch, you could also use the grids and colors to cross stitch off line free style. This app has been such a great stress buster lately for me.

What’s your favorite stress relieving app?

How berry CUTE! 😉  This Strawberry Shortcake t-shirt is $15.99, and a surprise to find on Amazon.

This 4-pack of Dip Clips is only $6.89, and pretty genius!  These are great for dips like chip dip, salsa, queso, peanut butter, caramel…. pretty much anything you want!

Stock up on coffee pods!  This 40-pack of Two Rivers Coffee Pods is just $22.78 (that’s 57¢ per pod)…. but check out some of the flavors: blueberry vanilla, butter toffee, golden maple, butterscotch swirl, toasted cinnamon and more! YUM.

Everyone seemed to love the 3-pack of unicorn bags that we posted the other day – so check this out!  Cat lovers – this 3-pack cat bags set can be used for makeup, pencils, emergency medical kit for your car, diaper bag items and much more.  AND, it’s under 10 bucks!

Dinosaur gummi candy by Haribo? I (Sarah) don’t think it gets any better than this. I picked mine up at World Market.

What cool finds have you found at World Market lately?

This product is GENIUS!!!! It’s patent-pending, and not available yet, but OMG when it comes out, I (Sarah) bet it will be really popular!  It’s a peanut butter pump.  It pushes the peanut butter down in the jar, so you don’t have to dig it out, AND makes it easier to spread.  Plus, you aren’t dirtying a knife!

Would you use this product?

If you love optical illusions, you should totally read this article from BBC. It explains why our brains and eyes see the things it does, and how images can “trick us.”  It’s really fascinating!  If you don’t have time right now, be sure to bookmark the page.

Do you like optical illusions?

I (Jeni) love juice.  My favorite is apple, but every once in a while I’ll branch out and get sassy 🙂  I found this V8 Splash Watermelon Cherry juice and can’t get enough of it. I’m not even a big fan of watermelon OR cherry (cherry even less).  However, this juice is so stinkin’ amazing, I am glad I took a risk to try it!  I’ve tried the Pineapple Coconut, Tropical and Mango Peach flavors, too, and love them almost as much, too!

What’s your favorite type of juice?

Fish….slippers?  These are hilarious and a great gift idea for the fisherman in your life!  I (Jeni) bet they would be perfect for walking in water and on slippery surfaces.  But for me, they just crack me up because they look so silly!

Do you know someone that would love these?

This right here, friends, is my (Jeni) favorite chicken sandwich.  My Potato Cake Chicken Sandwich.  It’s ridiculously yummy and fresh, and you can add whatever toppings you want on it!  The addition of the potato cake that you make yourself really kicks it up a notch!

What are you making for dinner?

Don’t forget to join us every Wednesday evening at 4pm EST for Happy Hour!

  1. Hot chocolate is my thing in the morning. I tried watching the show and quickly realized that it wasn’t for me. Most of my friends say the something.

Mmmmm mmmm hot chocolate! Do you put whipped cream or marshmallows on it!?
Good to know I’m not the only one that doesn’t like that show!

  2. Yup. That peanut butter device will be in my house the day it comes out. Genius!! Also love the dip clip.

    • Jeni Hawkins Reply

It’s pretty amazing, right? Peanut butter – reimagined. LOL

  3. I don’t get any joy from the Kondo method either. I’m by no means a hoarder, but I have a TON of stuff with real sentimental value. I’m not just gonna throw it out so I can live out of three drawers.

  4. Unill like three weeks ago I had never even heard of Marie Kondo! I have yet to see any of the shows but I do know that I am not the most organized person in the world so I’m wondering either if I would like it or absolutely hate it.

    • Jeni Hawkins Reply

HAHA! I hadn’t heard of her until I kept seeing the big talk about her on Facebook!

  5. The dip clip and the peanut butter lid are both super cool ideas. I have to make sure to get these for my family.

  6. I won’t be throwing a thing. Marie Kondo isn’t for me either. She’s too peppy and quite frankly, I like all my things.

I haven’t been to World Market in ages. I need to go!

  7. Oh wow I’m glad I read this, my son is dinosaur obsessed. He would love to try those dinosaur gummies. Let’s hope I can find some in the supermarket x

    • Jeni Hawkins Reply

I hope you can, too! If you have a World Market – you’re in luck!

  8. Do you know I have no inkling at all to what the Marie Kondo show at all. It just isn’t my sort of thing and I know I would fall asleep in a few minutes lol.

    • Jeni Hawkins Reply

BAHHAHAAH I seriously felt like I was falling asleep after the 2nd episode!

  9. Hi! Haribo Dinos are sooo good! I love pretty much all their candy though. I also am not a fan of Marie Kondo…she is annoying. She can purge her own stuff. lol

    • Jeni Hawkins Reply

BAHAHHAHAHA Thanks for not letting me stand alone there!

  10. I just started drinking coffee this winter. So far I’ve just stuck with a dark or medium roast, but I would like to try those flavored coffees.

    • Jeni Hawkins Reply

Welcome to the coffee game! 🙂 Flavors are super fun, but just remember that they are generally not a dark or even medium roast. They are much lighter.

  11. Ahh!! This dip clips are amazing!!! Need those! And that strawberry shortcake tee is making me nostalgic!

  12. I totally got into Marie Kondo and binge watched the show. I purged a few rooms and then got busy and let it go. I’m sure you’re not the only one to not get into it.

    • Jeni Hawkins Reply

Yah, I’m seeing that in the comments that others feel the same now – makes me feel better! LOL

  13. I can relate about Marie Kondo. While I do like some of her ideas and I can understand why people like her, I did not love the show. I only watched a couple episodes.

  14. I want that potato cake sandwich! Looks so delicious! I love bread!

    • Jeni Hawkins Reply

It’s SERIOUSLY delicious! I absolutely love the potato and chicken in it!

  15. I haven’t even watched Marie Kondo. Someone posted a meme about have no more than 30 books and my first thought was “per author?”. I have around 500 books and they all make me happy. lol

  16. I love the idea of 4-pack of Dip Clips. They are awesome! I would definitely like to have them in my kitchen!

  17. That Strawberry Shortcake shirt is to cute! I hate the new SS cartoon, she looks so weird!!

    • Jeni Hawkins Reply

I love it because it’s VINTAGE style! And YES – I couldn’t agree more with you about the new ones!

  18. I liked Marie Kondo only because it was relaxing to watch them clean. It made my house feel less messy! ha!

    • Jeni Hawkins Reply

HAHA! Relaxing, for SURE – I totally saw that

  19. Jaime Nicole Reply

I also didn’t find joy in Marie Kondo, but I did start with other minimalism blogs a couple years ago. I have to say, it’s totally revamped my house and my budget!

  20. Haha, love the cup for dipping that snaps onto the tray. I’m so getting some of those. Perfect for the kids!

    • Jeni Hawkins Reply

Totally perfect for kids and their little snacks!

  21. I actually bought Marie’s book and was bored less than half way through but I liked the series a lot better. Can’t say a learned a whole lot but it did get me in the mood to start spring cleaning. That said, I think there was way too much hype about it.

    • Jeni Hawkins Reply

Hey, that’s something that it motivated you, at least!
