It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time to brush off the stress, negativity and blah of your week.  Enjoy some mid-week mixers with us without leaving the comfort of your home.  Uncork your favorite wine, pop open a beer, mix your favorite cocktail…. and unwind with us this evening.  And, if you’re feeling extra perky in the mornings, or need some help getting a jump on your day, join us for Morning Coffee weekday mornings, too!

Yummy treats and random chit-chat starts our Happy Hour together!

Fried Milk.  Yep.  It’s a thing!  This recipe makes for a sweet, fun appetizer – taking a step back from the traditional savory treats we usually munch on.  It’s basically a milky custard that has a crunchy, Panko outer shell, and they sound absolutely amazing and unique, don’t they!?!

What sweet appetizers do you like to snack on?

Some of us (Jeni) prefer salty snacks when we have alcohol… so I’m sharing another appetizer!  The more, the merrier, right!?  These are Beer-Battered Fried Avocado Wedges.  I already have all of my ingredients out and will be making them while we all chat!  I hope they turn out as good as they sound!

What fried foods do you enjoy?

I (Sarah) loved Hello Kitty as a child so I was ecstatic to spot Hello Kitty wine at Bevmo! Available in Prosecco Extra Dry, Sparkling Rose, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir, Spumante Rose, and Sweet Pink Sparkling wine, these wine bottles just may be the cutest wine I’ve ever seen.
Are you a Hello Kitty fan, if so, would you buy Hello Kitty wine?

Wouldn’t it be great to get soft serve ice cream from your own kitchen?  Ahhh…. the dreams we have.  But this one might just become reality.  LG created this automated machine they call SnowWhite – well, they didn’t create it as much as it’s a concept in the works.  However, their goal is for you to make ice cream, gelato and other desserts in 2-5 minutes in your own kitchen.   Oh, and the machine is supposed to clean itself, too.  Read more HERE!

This will probably be expensive – how much would you pay for this?
Look at that picture.  Now, look at it again.  That’s a house, but it’s a boat.  It’s Arkup, the company that designs these luxury homes that float on water.  This one is a 2-story house with 4,350 square feet of floor space.  It has 4 bedrooms, a kitchen, living room, dining room and each bedroom has its own separate bathroom.  It also has a deck (a retractable deck) with 456 square feet to chill out on in the sun. I (Jeni) could go on, but if you’re interested, you need to read the full article (and see more of the amazing pictures).  This boat is nicer than any home I’ve ever lived in.  Jealous?  Naw…. sharks and mosquitos.  Good luck with those, Arkup people!  ….. ugh… yah, I’m jealous.
Would you live on the water if you could live in this house?
Pancake art is so cool… and this is even cooler, because you can do it yourself!  This Pancake Art Starter Kit includes everything you need to start making some awesome flap jacks of your own!  You get a nonstick template and four batter bottles (say that 5 times really fast).  Plus, it comes with a cool-touch griddle.  That means you could use the griddle for other cooking, too!
What designs would you create??

Try a fun, new adult beverage this week, or save the recipes for parties with friends!

I (Sarah) received these Anthon Berg Chocolate Liqueurs as a gift from a friend yesterday.  So, seeing as today is Happy Hour day, I saved them for this occasion!  These are a great treat for chocolate and liqueur lovers, like me.  Plus, they won’t give me a hangover 🙂  I’ve had a couple so far and they are outstanding!  The dark chocolate and the alcohol taste SO YUMMY together!

What’s your poison today?

Tonight, I (Jeni) need a quick little shot of relaxation…so I’m going for these yummy 99 Proof shots!  The Root Beer tastes exactly like root beer, and the Butterscotch is sweet and divine! These are so smooth and yummy, I don’t need to wash them down with anything after drinking them.  mmmmmm!

What are your favorite shots?

What’s Happy Hour without getting all that negativity out of your system? Get it out and let it go!

This is my (Sarah’s) dirty little secret. Fingernails that I bite way down until they peel and bleed around the cuticles. I’ve tried those bitter polishes, hypnosis,  acrylic nails, manicures, even counseling and nothing keeps me from biting my nails. I bite them because I hate the way nails feel on my fingers. Lately my boyfriend has been bringing up how much my nail biting bothers him, so I’m trying again to stop and it’s sooo hard!

If you are a fingernail biter why do you bite your nails? If you used to bite your fingernails, I would love to hear how you stopped!

I (Jeni) am a huge grammar snob.  I respect the English language and appreciate it.  So, when it’s mangled and stomped on, I get irritated, aggravated, and a little snobby about it. This is especially geared toward people that are now adults.  These people have been surrounded by and exposed to proper grammar, yet ignore it, apparently.  It drives me NUTS.  My biggest pet peeve right now is pluralizing with apostrophes.  I don’t know WHY people are doing this so much.  For example:

WRONG:  My retro toy’s are so fun.
PROPER:  My retro toys are so fun.

WRONG:  I ate so many pancake’s yesterday.
PROPER: I ate so many pancakes yesterday.

If I see it, I call it out, and hope that it doesn’t happen again. It’s my duty as a protector of the English language, right? 🙂

Do you have any grammar pet peeves?

Your drink should be kicking in by now, so let’s have some giggles together!

Ok, friends, it’s time to shut down Happy Hour and get back to reality! But first, grab that last bargain drink, and check out some limited time deals and treat yourself this week to something special! You deserve it!

Treat  yo self! 🙂

Ok, this is BRILLIANT and perfect for those that travel.  It’s the Cocoon Travel Organizer and it’s only $27.  It has a TON of options and possibilities to help with organizing your suitcase…. you’ll have to see the other images and description to really appreciate it!

Could this Cassette Tape Stationary Organizer be any cuter!?  It’s under $13, and definitely something fun for your desk… or your boss’s desk! 🙂

Have a great rest of your week!  See you tomorrow for Morning Coffee!

  7. Oh yes, that is a grammar pet peeve of mine too! Also, how people confuse the words ‘affect’ and ‘effect’. I see that mistake constantly!

    • Jeni Hawkins Reply

OMG I can’t stand that, either. If you aren’t sure – pick another way to formulate your sentences!

  17. I am bilingual and my grammar may not be perfect but I do know the difference between the use of THEIR vs THERE or IT’S vs ITS or PEAK vs PEEK. These are the usual error that I see online. 🙂

    • Jeni Hawkins Reply

HAHA! That’s awesome that you recognize what you normally see!

  18. YES!!! I would definitely buy the Hello Kitty wine! It’s the best thing I’ve seen in a long time along with the SnowWhite ice cream cone machine. I seriously hope LG sells it one day. I’d buy one.
