I (Sarah) have been so excited about the news of a new Star Trek series for awhile now. Originally, it was supposed to air in January 2018, which seems like a million light years away. But now, that date has been moved up and Star Trek Discovery will air September 24, 2017, yeah! While I’m not normally a big fan of the modern Star Trek series, this one actually takes place 10 years before Star Trek The Original Series and I am so thrilled.

The only disappointing thing about this series, is that CBS plans to run it on CBS All Access, which is separate from regular CBS and requires an additional fee. I feel like many people will miss out on this amazing show because of that. I hate the decision CBS made to do things that way, and wish they would have gone with regular CBS, Netflix, or any number of other streaming services. Hopefully, they will eventually make it available to everyone.

Are you excited for Star Trek Discovery?

There’s nothing like a water slide to cool down on a hot summer day. I (Sarah) love water parks and am especially fond of water slides. I prefer the tame kind that you ride an inner tube down an enclosed tube and land safely in a pool at the bottom of the slide. And then there’s people who love the thrill of a water slide and want bigger, steeper, and faster. I’m not that person. When I found this list of the 19 most extreme water slides in the world, I was cringing, wondering how many people actually ride these slides.

The picture above is the Insano and it’s located in Brazil and is the world’s tallest water slide, at 14 stories high and with speeds of 65 miles per hour.

Twister and Speedy are located in Europe and measure 460 and 660 feet in length through twists and turns.

But the one that really got to me was this one in Italy, with its wavy structure going straight down the side of a hill. Um no thanks. I think I’ll stick to the lazy river from now on!

Are you brave enough to try any of these water slides?

Gooooood morning, my lovies!  I (Jeni) had a pretty hectic week, so I’m feeling nice and amped up for the weekend!  I wanted to introduce you to my little buddy, “Bean”!  He’s my Troll doll that sits eye-level to me when I’m working on the blog, and makes me smile every time I see him.  Do you remember Troll dolls from the 90s!?  I always wanted those career Trolls like the doctor, the astronaut, the farmer (I don’t know if there was a farmer, but I’m picturing one is overalls and loving it!)…. but, my little Bean is good luck for me, and makes me smile, so I’ll just be happy with him! He’s one of those “little things” that brightens my day, every day!

Do you have a good luck charm?  What little things brighten your day!?

A couple of years ago, I (Jeni) was living in northern Washington state, and visited Storybrook! If you’re a Once Upon A Time fan, you’ll know exactly how special that trip was!  Score all of the latest seasons on DVD for super cheap HERE, and check out our adventures and pictures while we walked through the town HERE!

I’m so excited for season 6 to come on Netflix so I can binge watch it 🙂  I’m not a “wait until next week for the next episode” kinda gal.  Being able to visit Storybrook was really special, and I can’t wait to go back again and stay for a little longer!

Are you a Once Upon A Time fan?

I (Sarah) love ice cream in freshly made waffle bowls. Now you can make your own waffle bowls at home with this awesome waffle bowl maker. It’s on sale for just $20.29!

In need of a new grill for summer? This awesome Char-Griller Acorn Jr Kamado Kooker Grill is just $109! It’s highly rated and looks really cool too.

This is one of my (Jeni) favorite movies! The Theory of Everything DVD is incredible, and I’m so excited that it’s on sale right now for only $6.35!

Here’s another great DVD deal – Family Ties: The Complete Series.  Ohhhh, I (Jeni) LOVE this show!  Could problems get any more cheesy or real in a family?  And young Michael J. Fox was such a cutie!  This set is on sale right now for only $42!

I (Sarah) love unicorns as an adult, and adored them as a child. I always wanted a unicorn to ride, but the closest thing I ever got was a purple bicycle with a unicorn on the seat. I recently found these awesome ride on toys called Pony Cycles. They are expensive ($250!) but I think they are totally adorable.

What animals are your kids obsessed with right now?

I (Sarah) may have spotted the most expensive computer keyboard of all time! The Sojourner keyboard is made out of brass and has typewriter style keys and is made to have a steampunk design with a natural weathered look. It looks like an awesome keyboard, but get this it’s $1,000! I use a keyboard daily, and I run through one every 6 months or so when the letters wear off, but I cannot imagine buying a $1,000 keyboard.

Do you know anyone who buys exorbitantly expensive items?

This is genius.  It’s The Shader – a portable face shader from the sun!  It collapses for easy travel and storage, and looks WAY better than using a towel over my (Jeni) face when I’m laying on the beach.  How clever!

Would you use The Shader?

HOLY MOLY!  If you’re an RV person – you’ll LOVE this!  This is the EleMMent Palazzo – the most luxurious motorhome in the world.  It has everything, like a TON of space (it actually looks like a yacht inside!), a “Sky Lounge” – which is a deck that pops up on top, temperature zones, a wine cabinet and bar and SO much more.  Ridiculous, right? Ridiculously AWESOME!

DO you know a family that would love to travel in this?

This is my (Jeni) favorite app right now! It’s Bitmoji, and I am totally addicted!  I use these when I text or on Facebook Messenger all the time and have so much fun with it.  There are hundreds of different little images featuring the Bitmoji you create of yourself. You can change clothes, there are always new Bitmojis added every day, and there’s something for every occasion.  I even create an occasion to use them 🙂

Get Bitmoji app on iTunes or Android!

What’s your favorite app right now?

  1. I could totally live in that RV, seriously, if ONLY it were affordable, laugh. Then I could go to a new place every time something goes wrong.

    • Stacie, so excited that there is another Trekkie out there! I mean, I know they are out there, but EVERY ONE I am friends with, including Jeni is a Star Wars fan rather than a Star Trek fan. I’ll always be a Trekkie. Thanks for joining us!

  2. I love waterslides! I would try every single one of these. That wavy one that was straight into the water at the bottom would be my number one choice LOL. I guess that’s where my crazy is.

    • Jeanette, I’ll leave the crazy water slides to you. In the meantime, I’ll be the one in and out of the lazy river, eating ice cream bars, and hanging out in the wave pool, laugh. Thanks for joining us!

  3. I thought I loved water slides until I saw these! Good gracious! I suspect I would have to give the a try though … assuming I could climb all the stairs it would take to get up there!!

    • Cherri, isn’t that the problem with all awesome water slides, the stairs? Thanks for joining us!

    • Kristen, I haven’t gotten through all the seasons yet, but I’m enjoying Once Upon a Time as well. It’s an awesome show for fairy tale lovers like myself. Thanks for joining us!

  4. A $1,000 keyboard?! That is crazy but it looks so awesome! Under “Morning Giggles”, I still have a disposable camera from like 7 years ago. I need to see if I can still get them developed and see what I took pictures of.

    • Michelle, I know the feeling. When we cleaned before our last move we found like 12 rolls of undeveloped film. Unfortunately, they were more than 5 years old (8 or 9 years from when we didn’t own a digital camera) and I didn’t know that film actually expires, so we paid for a whole bunch of black and red nothing to be developed. The expiration date can usually be found on the individual roll of film. If it’s 2-3 years expired, there is a chance of saving the photographs, I was told anything older then that, and you are pretty much out of luck. Thanks for joining us!

Oh, that slide. i would probably go on it, but just once 🙂
And for the Once Upon a Time, I would love to visit STorybrook for sure!

    • Lena, you are braver than I am, I wouldn’t be brave enough to try those water slides, even once. Thanks for joining us!

  6. I am all for a fun day at a water park, but those massive slides are a big no way for me! These days the lazy river is more my speed.

    • Marcie, I’m with you, I love the Lazy River and the children’s playground at water parks. We rented a Cabana once, along a wave pool, that was pretty amazing. I’ll steer clear of the crazy water slides myself. Thanks for joining us!

  7. Claudia Krusch Reply

We are so excited for Star Trek Discovery to start. We have been Star Trek fans for so long. I was so happy when they announced the show.

    • Claudia, I know the feeling, our household is filled with Trekkies, and we can’t wait for the new series. Thanks for joining us!

  8. Family Ties was one of my favorite shows! That would be great to show my kids!

    • Kristi, that’s the great thing about a show like Family Ties. It is a classic, timeless show that even kids today will enjoy. Thanks for joining us!

  9. Count me in on the Lazy River too. Those water slides are TERRIFYING! I love that RV. I would live in that thing!

    • Dawn, I definitely agree with you on the Lazy River, it’s the best way to spend the day at a water park. Thanks for joining us!

  10. I need to buy one of those waffle bowl makers. That would make ice cream night so much more fun!

    • Sara, I totally agree, making your own waffle bowls steps ice cream up the next level. Thanks for joining us!

  11. That’s pretty awesome! I haven’t heard updated from that Star Trek tv series in so long. I think it’s nice that they adjusted the release date! The slides are amazing and I would totally go with that one in Italy!

    • Carol, I am so excited about the Star Trek series as well. You are right, it’s been way too long since the last release of a tv show (since I didn’t care too much for the modern movies). Thanks for joining us!

  12. I’m a huge Once Upon A Time fan too! How lucky to check out the town! Definitely, something I would love to do! And I love the Superman! LOL! So true!

    • Victoria, I’m a Once Upon A Time fan too, and I’m totally jealous that Jen got to visit there! Thanks for joining us!!

  13. Those water slides didn’t scare me in my teen years. Now, no thanks but I thinks its because I am extra cautious when it comes to my back. I had major back surgery in Dec 2015.

I would use the shader. My mother in law was showing it to my husband earlier today.

    • Uprunforlife, sorry to hear about your back, I know that puts a damper on the fun! I would never have gone on any of those water slides in my teen years. I was a complete wimp then! Thanks for joining us!

    • Ricci, you can totally have the water slides, I’ll be the one hanging out in the Lazy River, laugh. Thanks for joining us!

These are all sounds great and my hubby was a huge fan of Once Upon a Time.

    • Misty, Once Upon a Time is such a great show. Just when you think it’s getting boring and predictable, they throw something new out there that you were totally not expecting. Thanks for joining us!
