I (Jeni) love, love, love Target.  I could shop there every day, pushing a big, red cart and sipping on my Starbucks Hazelnut Latte.  I always find something awesome, and MAN do they have great deals!  Did you know that Target is spending 7 billion dollars to revamp and remodel their stores?  YES!

So, over the next three years, they are completely changing their store layouts and designs. The first store to go through the change (that sounds weird, doesn’t it?  lol) is in Richmond, Texas (just outside of Houston).  Each store will have 2 different entrances – one for quick trips where you pop in and grab food or alcohol and fast order pickups, and the other with department store type displays.  It’s gonna be SO cool! Check out the sketches of the new stores and the new layouts HERE!

But dangit – as excited as I am about the big changes, how long will my Target stores be shut down for the renovation?  OMG you guys… no Target runs for months.  I feel sick now. 😉

Are you a Target shopper?  If so, are you excited about these big changes?!

Barbie 1993 vs 2017

I (Sarah) went through a major Barbie phase when I was 12 years old. Of course, none of my friends at school could know I still played with dolls. Here is a picture of me, circa 1993 with some of my massive Barbie collection. As you can see between a motorhome, house, and folding house, my Barbies were living large. They even had a vinyl swimming pool that we’d fill with water. The house didn’t have an elevator, play music, or make noises. The camper motorhome was manual and basically had a bed and table inside. The folding house had a cardboard floor. When we played with Barbies we used our imagination. Notice Barbie wearing ski’s on the roof, Whitney cheerleading on the balcony, and the kids sitting on top of the motorhome.

Barbie 1993 vs 2017

Kids today don’t play Barbies the same way I did. Barbie lives in a Smart House now! It is Wi-Fi enabled and will cost you $239 on sale! It responds to over 100 commands, automatic elevator, steps that turn into a slide, and doors that open when you give them a voice command.  Barbie’s new swimming pool has palm trees, chairs, and a chandelier, seriously by the pool? The walls are also all plastic so it doesn’t collapse in like mine did, which flooded the carpet many times. Her new camper comes complete with a slide, television, and swimming pool. Barbie definitely has moved up in the world since I was a kid!

Barbie 1993 vs 2017

I get it kids want technology, but the latest Barbie toy I saw on TV recently during a Toy Fair special is downright creepy. It’s called Hello Barbie Hologram and it’s basically a hologram Barbie that talks to you, keeps track of your schedule, checks the weather, takes notes, and even has parental controls so Barbie doesn’t talk all night. Seriously, I had flashbacks to the song “Barbie Girl”by Aqua, and that’s not a good thing. Something about a Barbie that talks to you and dances in hologram form is just downright creepy to me!

What are your favorite pool toys and floats?

Baileys and Torani in my coffee!

Mmmm hmmmmm.  Yep.  YES!  Excuse my (Jeni) drool.  I found the best combination EVER for my morning lattes!  I found this amazing Bailey’s Hazelnut Caramel creamer at Kroger yesterday, and am in love.  Pair that with the ridiculously amazing Torani Caramel Sauce (it’s seriously the best ever) on top, and I could drink this all day!  Actually – I admittedly will drink this all day! 🙂

What are your favorite things to put in your coffee?

Jay Asher 13 Reasons Why

Last night, my (Jeni) sister was telling me about a new show on Netflix she’s watching  – 13 Reasons Why. I haven’t seen it yet, but I’m excited to start it.  Then, she said, “Do you remember Jay Asher from high school?  He wrote the book that it’s based on!”  Wow!  That’s crazy!  Honestly, we both remembered his name, and he sounded really familiar, but couldn’t put his face to the name.  I grabbed my old yearbook and as soon as I saw him, I remembered him.  Too cool that an alumni from my school has been so successful!

Have you seen 13 Reasons Why? Do you recommend it?

This is the Swurfer. Now, say that 5 times really fast. 🙂  This thing is too cool!  It’s a surfboard on a swing, or a swing like a surfboard.  You get the idea! You basically “surf the air.” I think I would totally fall off, crash into a tree that causes branches to break off and hit power lines that start a couple of house fires.  But that’s just me 🙂  Read more about the Swurfer HERE.

Would you try a Swurfer??

Slow Cooker Bacon Mac & Cheese

Tonight, I (Jeni) and trying this new recipe I found for Slow Cooker Bacon Mac & Cheese.  Sounds pretty good to me! It has 3 kinds of white cheese in it – so I’m totally game.  Not to mention the best part – the BACON!!

What’s on the menu in your house tonight!?

Once Upon A Time Bloopers!  If you love this show, you’ll really love seeing the actors mess up! 🙂

  1. Let’s hope that Target’s revamp will be better than Walmart’s. Walmart went for wide open spaces and ended up stocking less products. I’m not a Target shopper but it sounds great for those who are.

  2. Is extremely interested in the target is doing that. You’re probably trying to give it a new look. Sometimes when you make something look knew it brings in a whole new crowd. Should be interesting to see.

    • Jeanette, I think everyone is interested to see how it turns out for Target. Thanks for dropping by!

  3. Great giggles as usual. I am glad I am not the only one who likes Target, I think it is a great store. I just got rid of my, I mean, my daughter’s Barbie House and I am so sad.

    • Awww Melissa, no more Barbies for you? That is sad! Kids grow up so fast. Thanks for joining us!

  4. Barbie really is getting more and more high-tech. I guess they do have to update to reflect modern houses now and then. We finished the last episode of 13 Reasons Why last night and we liked it. It’s really cool that you both remembered the author’s name from your high school!

    • Liz, I’ll have to check out 13 Reasons Why, I haven’t seen it yet!

  5. Tamra Phelps Reply

Well, you had me at Bacon Mac & Cheese, lol. I seriously need to try that recipe!

    • Tamra, when you try the Bacon Macaroni and Cheese recipe we would love for you to come back and tell us what your family thought of it. Thanks for dropping by!

    • Kathy, it’s nice to hear that there are Target die hard fans out there. I’ve always been a Walmart fan, but with their lowered free shipping rate and Amazon Prime I find myself rarely visiting either store these days. Thanks for joining us!

  6. Claudia Krusch Reply

I have been looking for a baby shower gift and the NUK Natural Sleep System 2-in-1 Light & Sound Machine is perfect. I will have to pick one up for my friend. Looks like Target is making some big changes.

    • Claudia, you are picking a great choice for a baby shower gift with the Nuk Light and Sound Machine, any parent would love it! Thanks for dropping by!

Confessions: I totally played with dolls through most of my 9th grade. I got my last “Baywatch” Barbie at 14 years old!! I loved dolls

    • Amy, Barbie’s are awesome! I would play with them now, but I ran out of little kids to play them with, lol. I had Baywatch Barbie too! I loved that doll.

  8. I love that Target keeps trying new things. It’s one of my favorite stores, I’m pretty sure they know me when I walk in, I’m really there that much.

    • Kristi, it’s great that you are a Target fan, it’s always nice to have a store you are comfortable shopping in. Thanks for joining us!

    • Jeni Hawkins Reply

HAHAHA! Same with one of the Targets in Dallas – they totally know me! And I love that there’s always new items, too

  9. There are so many great things with this weekend edition! Loving those lunch boxes and pool float especially!

    • Brianne, I agree the lunch boxes are awesome! I want the shark one for myself. Thanks for dropping by!

Barbie has changed so much since my day. My Barbie house was cardboard and she had a friend Midge. Now she has changed with the times. I think I would rather have the old time Barbie and inspire my imagination more. I loved the clothes back then especially the red coat outfit with the white satin lining.

    • Jeni Hawkins Reply

Right? It’s crazy how much they have changed! I think I even know about the coat you’re talking about!

  11. Diana Scholz Reply

That Car Catcher Side Organizer is a million dollar idea. I can’t tell you how many times i place something (keys, phone, hair clip, etc.) on my lap and it falls down there.

    • Jeni Hawkins Reply

I totally agree! I LOVE that idea! I lose so many things in my car!
