When presented with the challenge of keeping kids healthy, parents will do all that they can to make the right choices for their families. When Yingchun Liu’s daughter was 7 years old, she wanted to start using nail polish; having an extensive background in chemistry, she was not content with putting traditional nail polish on her daughter, knowing the chemicals lurking behind those pretty colors. She started Suncoat to develop her own line of water based nail polish, and had such great success that she couldn’t stop there. Now over 10 years later, her line has expanded to include vegan, mineral-based products for hair, face, lips and eyes.
, received three adorable sets for girls to review. One was a set of beautifully colored polishes, and the other two were play sets of makeup, which included lip gloss, eye shadow, nail polish and nail decals. I was so excited to test these out, as there is often a stigma surrounding natural products, insinuating they will not hold up as well as their chemical filled counterparts. Of course I needed to try it out on Lili, who would wear a different shade of nail polish each day if I’d let her! I need to mention that she can sit still for about 60 seconds, and after that she’s a total wiggle worm, and it’s no easy task to get the polish on smoothly. We did the best we can with the fidgeting, but at the end of it, we had a amazing set of polished nails! Lili chose peach sparkle and red/gold sparkle as her colors, and as you can see, they showed up nice and bright on her little hands. I think I’m going to have to use the cobalt blue on myself!
You can also count on Suncoat to never test on animals, one of my favorite traits in a beauty company. I’m hoping to get my hands on some of the natural makeup designed for adults really soon! The liquid eyeliner and mascara might soon be finding their way into my online shopping cart; I have very sensitive eyes, and I’m always looking for fun new makeup that won’t trigger a reaction. For having all of the quality, and none of the junk, I’m giving Suncoat two thumbs up – and most likely all of my next paycheck! (don’t tell Jon!!)
